Note: To make things realistic but still reliant on the luck-of-the-roll and allow for “surprise babies”, each year I used dice to see if I would roll for a birth/adoption or not in addition to an “other”, non-birth event (I didn’t think my couple would try for another child if they’d just had one :)). So even=roll for a birth and other event while odd=just roll for an other event.

The pregnancy was successful and they had a baby girl this time! Her middle name is a nod to her great-grandmothers, Magdalena “Magda” and Finola “Nola”. Like her brother, she has her dad’s curly, black hair and mom’s brown eyes.
(Note: I first rolled for a birth event and got Not Pregnant, but then rolled and got a Random Event pregnancy. Since the child was too young to have kids instead, I just rolled for pregnancy details after all. Hence the weird flip-flopping story explanation. Haha.)

On schedule (they seem to want another child after two years has gone by), the couple tried for another baby, but unfortunately they had trouble again and didn’t get pregnant. However, Grace won the lottery and they put the 250,000 in a fund for the children’s future college tuition/business startup.

Toward the end of the year, V’s grandmother Magda passed away and he inherited a good portion of her estate. While this was monetarily welcome now that they have three children and expenses are larger, they’re also sad as he was quite close to her.

It’s a third girl for the Mortensen’s, and—finally-–the first redhead like mom! Sofie, whose middle name means ‘lark’ has dad’s curls and gray eyes. Along with a new baby comes a new home. The family moves cities from bustling Toronto to the slightly less bustling London, Ontario which still provides them with good opportunities in their job fields of medicine and the arts while being a bit more cost-effective and relaxing.

After moving, Grace decided that she wanted to quit her job, at least for a while until the kids’ got older. There’s certainly enough to do with four of them (and they’re not sure they’re done yet either – Grace has always wanted a big family)!

Speak of it and it shall be so – V and Grace started talking about having another baby and lo and behold one appeared. Kai is overjoyed that he’s not the only boy in the family now. Henry’s a spitting image of his mother with wavy, red hair and brown eyes. The children were pestering their parents for a pet, so they got a beta fish to appease them. Liv thought up Sir Bluescales which made everyone laugh, so that’s how he stayed.

There is a fire at the house when Julia tries to make microwave popcorn on her own. Thankfully, an extinguisher was nearby and Grace caught it quickly. On the upside, she now gets a new kitchen backsplash.

Grace and Villads try for what they decide will be their final child. They get pregnant but it sadly results in a miscarriage. The younger kids miss having a pet, so V goes out and gets a rat. She is brown with a couple of white dapples, and one on her belly looks like a heart. Grace is not well pleased at first, but discovers that she quite likes Lady Lovelyspot, who cuddles in her neck when held.

Grace gets a job at a new physical therapy office. She’s missed work, and now that Lilly is in kindergarten she feels that it’s an okay time to get back into things. She and V are still considering having another child, but are letting things happen as they will, and she decides that working will be good for her after losing the baby last year whether they do have another child or not.

Grace is unfortunately laid off from her job after only a year because the local office was closing and she didn’t want to commute an hour to the company’s next closest location. This might have been good timing in disguise, as Kai and Justina revealed to their parents that Justina was five months pregnant! Their baby just arrived, a little girl named Scarlett Zelda (after their favorite video game) who shares her parents’ brown eyes and curly hair, which is black like Kai’s. Right now they are each still living with their respective parents until they graduate high school, though Kai is almost always over at Justina’s house after school helping out with the baby when not at his part-time job at the local library.

G&V: Grace and V try for a final time to conceive, but don’t get pregnant. They were considering adoption for the past couple of years, but with six children and now a new grandchild, they have a full and happy enough family and have decided to be settled as is. They do, however, get another furry friend, a blue mink Tonkinese. Their cat’s name, Danger (Henry thought it sounded cool), is a bit of a misnomer. He’s a friendly cuddle-machine who gets along grand with Lady Lovelyspot.
K&J: Kai gets a job as a legal secretary. He’s hoping to go to law school in the near future.

V&G: Danger, normally an indoor cat, got out and was gone for two days. The next door neighbor soon had a surprise litter of kittens, some of which looked suspiciously like the Mortensen’s cat.
K&J: Kai moves jobs to another law firm. He and Justina let nature take its course in regards to another baby but don’t get pregnant.

V&G: The Mortensen family takes one of Danger’s offspring. They name the gray Tonkinese-tabby mix Freja after the Scandinavian goddess of love, beauty, war and death which they think is quite fitting for a rambunctious feline.
K&J: Kai and Justina have another girl! Zara’s got curly, brown hair and brown eyes and her middle name is after Kai’s mother, of course. They’re very happy, but it does cause trouble at school for Justina, who had just enrolled in university but now is going to put it off again.

K&J: Surprise! It’s fraternal twin boys for Kai and Justina. They weren’t even trying to have any kids at the moment, but fate had other plans. They both have curly hair and brown eyes like the rest of their family; Sander’s hair is black and Gabriel’s is brown. Kai also started a new job in a new field, deciding that he wouldn’t become a lawyer after all. He’s gone back to the library field and is in training to be an archivist focusing on genealogical history. Kai has proposed and they’re planning to get married when the can find the time (which is going to be further away now that they had twins)!

She and V are still considering having another child, but are letting things happen as they will, and she decides that working will be good for her after losing the baby last year whether they do have another child or not.

Grace is unfortunately laid off from her job after only a year because the local office was closing and she didn’t want to commute an hour to the company’s next closest location. This might have been good timing in disguise, as Kai and Justina revealed to their parents that Justina was five months pregnant! Their baby just arrived, a little girl named Scarlett Zelda (after their favorite video game) who shares her parents’ brown eyes and curly hair, which is black like Kai’s. Right now they are each still living with their respective parents until they graduate high school, though Kai is almost always over at Justina’s house after school helping out with the baby when not at his part-time job at the local library.
YEAR 20 - Location: London, Canada

G&V: Grace and V try for a final time to conceive, but don’t get pregnant. They were considering adoption for the past couple of years, but with six children and now a new grandchild, they have a full and happy enough family and have decided to be settled as is. They do, however, get another furry friend, a blue mink Tonkinese. Their cat’s name, Danger (Henry thought it sounded cool), is a bit of a misnomer. He’s a friendly cuddle-machine who gets along grand with Lady Lovelyspot.
K&J: Kai gets a job as a legal secretary. He’s hoping to go to law school in the near future.
YEAR 21 - Location: London, Canada
V&G: Danger, normally an indoor cat, got out and was gone for two days. The next door neighbor soon had a surprise litter of kittens, some of which looked suspiciously like the Mortensen’s cat.
K&J: Kai moves jobs to another law firm. He and Justina let nature take its course in regards to another baby but don’t get pregnant.

V&G: The Mortensen family takes one of Danger’s offspring. They name the gray Tonkinese-tabby mix Freja after the Scandinavian goddess of love, beauty, war and death which they think is quite fitting for a rambunctious feline.
K&J: Kai and Justina have another girl! Zara’s got curly, brown hair and brown eyes and her middle name is after Kai’s mother, of course. They’re very happy, but it does cause trouble at school for Justina, who had just enrolled in university but now is going to put it off again.

V&G: Liv has started dating a university classmate, Lalitha, who has brown eyes and wavy, brown hair.
K&J: Surprise! It’s fraternal twin boys for Kai and Justina. They weren’t even trying to have any kids at the moment, but fate had other plans. They both have curly hair and brown eyes like the rest of their family; Sander’s hair is black and Gabriel’s is brown. Kai also started a new job in a new field, deciding that he wouldn’t become a lawyer after all. He’s gone back to the library field and is in training to be an archivist focusing on genealogical history. Kai has proposed and they’re planning to get married when the can find the time (which is going to be further away now that they had twins)!

V&G: Liv discovers that Lalitha has been unfaithful and they break up.
K&J: Scarlett gets mad at her parents and packs a little suitcase, declares she’s running away, and heads to the playground at their apartment complex to set up her new home in the playhouse. They leave her to play for a while and when she is called for dinner she runs inside, declares she supposes she forgives them and will return.

V&G: Villads discovers a painting he bought early in his career in the attic (Grace never liked it so it ended up there). He looked up the artist, who is now famous and they sold it for a lot of money! They’re planning a trip abroad for their 25th anniversary.
K&J: Justina’s parents release her inheritance from the trust her grandparents set up for her a year early so the couple could use the money to get a larger apartment, and finally get married and go on a honeymoon!
