It's preppy and unisex like Blaine / Blair and rhymes with flake. It sounds better for a guy, to me. I don't hate it, but it comes as very bland, like Chip or Trey or Jake.

I agree with all of this.
Theoretically I think Blake should be equally acceptable on either sex, since it's a surname name, but I definitely tend to think of it as a boy's name.
