All the ones I've known were female, so it's a girl's name to me. I like it.
I have only heard this on women considering that girls are children. I like it.
For me typically male with the -o ending, such as Mario, Marco, Ivo, Vito etc.
I prefer it on girls, though I like it on boys too. I think it sounds beautiful and intriguing.

I prefer it for a girl. I don't really like the religious meaning, but the sound is nice and history behind it is substantial.
It sounds better for boys and even more as a surname which I strongly associate the name with.
