I don't enjoy Julia, Juliana or Julie. Or, indeed, Judith. But I'm very fond of Juliet, and I'm OK with Julian for a boy.
I think it's probably just the -oo- sound: the only -oo- names I really like enough to use are Lucy and Ruth; Juliet would be a mn only and so probably would Julian.
