Alastair is not popular at ALL! I think Alastair would be better on an Irish child, and Alexander is better. It doesn't matter where it is. I LOVE Alexander.

I like Alastair a lot, and I didn't realize it had gotten popular in Scotland. It's unheard-of around here (I'm in Texas). I slightly prefer it spelled Alistair.

I'd use it as a middle name, even though it's not popular here, because there are so many names I like better, and because I'd want to avoid the nickname Al (which would be inevitable where I live).
