[Opinions] Kepple
Just found this name in the Walt Disney family tree (twice).
Personally I think this is one of the most unappealing surname transfers I've ever seen, but I'd like to know if anybody else has a differing opinion?
Kepple Elias Disney (b 1832) was Walt's grandfather, and then there's Kepple Disney Jr (b 1874) who was his son.

For some unidentifiable reason it reminds me of seaweed.
You're probably thinking of kelp which is a type of seaweed
There's the astronomer, Kepler; that's a good association. Kepple looks like a frequentative, used of someone who keps a lot, where keppling is, perhaps, eating kibble with a snuffling sound.
One of the most astonishing South African cricketers, Kepler Wessels, played international cricket for both Australia (during South Africa's isolation from world sport) and then for South Africa on re-entry. He was a fine batsman and a very cunning strategist.

Unappealing, yah.
Reading it reminds me of the word nipple.
Hearing it reminds me of the word cripple.
I'm sure it's not hard to get used to in real life though. I mean like, if I had a coworker named Kepple, it wouldn't be making me squirm every time I said it. It's just a surname name, as far as I can tell.

It just doesn't work. Keppel sounds like a food, maybe like something to eat at Hanukkah. Like Kugel only ... with kelp?
I think Kepple sounds like somebody tried to make some food-thing with kelp and apples. Maybe they tried to mould kelp into an apple shape and dyed it red or made some sort of kelp and apple chutney :/
