Sounds like a stereotypical "hickish old lady" name to me.
Kind of looks like Thelema (which is "will" in Greek and also the name of a religion).

I like Thelma, and if we lived in an entirely Anglophone bubble I think I'd like it even better. As it is, I can't get away from hearing it as the German Selma, pronounced with a lisp.

Sorry, I just don’t care for it. Closest name I can think of is Thea (thay-uh) which I think is prettier.
