I like North and prefer it on a boy. I see it as a modern geographical name on one hand and a timeless surname turned first name on the other. It's been occassionally used in the past on boys, so it's not that Kim and Kanye "invented" it, although North West would most likely be people's first association.
North can also be a nice NN for Northrop or Northwood (rare SN-type first names).
