[Opinions] Minty
What would you think if you met a girl named Minty? What would you think it was short for? **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

Ive met a young Minty, I think it's so cute. It was short for Clementine but would work for Araminta also

I'd think of Harriet Tubman, who changed her name from Araminta "Minty".It also sounds a bit like a folksy version of Mindy or Misty, I guess.

I think it could be a whole name. Her mom is a cook and her dad is a dentist who manufactures dental floss on the side, and they both like bourbon and mojitos. She's a little bit fresh and a little bit sweet, and she doesn't resent her folks at all. Happy go lucky girly girl. Might be a cheerleader, or the president of the pep club.

“I hope her name is Araminta

I would only like it as a nn. It could be short for Araminta or Minerva? I have a friend with a surname similar to Minty and we call her Polo like the mint.

Araminta is all I can think of, and I certainly wouldn't expect that! Nor would I like to be confused with peppermint chocolates, after-dinner mints, or Peppermint Patty in Peanuts. Minty has to be said through narrow lips, so it seems stingy and unpleasant, quite unfairly.

I’d earnestly hope it was a nickname, first of all. I had a My Little Pony named Minty.Apparently it’s a nickname for Araminta? Maybe Samantha could work as well?

It’s not pronounced like in English, but in Denmark, the name Mynte/Mynthe is actually reasonably popular for girls. It’s pronounced with the y like the french u or the german ü. The t/the makes a d sound. I don’t think it’s any different than using other nature themed words as names, like Ivy, Rose, Juniper, Summer, Autumn og Sky or whatever. It’s not my style but I don’t see any harm either.

I actually think it's quite cute, though I prefer the Ancient Greek Minthe.I'd assume it was short for Araminta.

If I thought it was short for anything I guess I'd say Araminta.
But mostly I'd think she sounded like mouthwash.

I'd hope it was short for Araminta or maybe Minerva (Minnie --> Minty?), but I'd probably assume if I met one IRL that her full name was just Minty.

I would like it in theory, but I wouldn’t use it. I would assume it was a nickname for Araminta.

dont like it, short for Araminta

The only way I could take Minty seriously is if it’s a nickname for Araminta. On its own, it’s tacky.
