[Opinions] Alphonse and Alfons

In Sweden, we have totally different associations with Alphonse or Alfons.
Alfons Åberg is a very popular children's book character, so we tend to think of a cute little boy. Alfons was extremely uncommon before these books by Gunilla Bergström. Some are translated into English and there he is called Alfie Atkins.
I have heard that a slang word for pimp in Denmark is "alfons". This may deter some Swedish parents but would not be an issue for American parents.
"But it’s all right now.
I learned my lesson well.
You see you can’t please everyone
So you got to please yourself."

"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)
