Used in Middle English as a version of Cassandra. In Skelton's poem to Mistress Margaret Hussey, he compares her to 'good Cassander', quite probably to get a rhyme for 'coliander' and 'pomander'. It looks masculine, like Alexander rather than Alexandra, but in context - Good Cassander, Steadfast of thought - it must refer to the Trojan truth-teller.I don't like it as a name for anyone, but the reference is fun.
