There was more moving and shaking in my feminine list than my masculine one (as usual), but I don't believe that
Levi has ever been in my Top 10 before. Neither has
Luna (a name I used to dislike because it reminded me of "lunatic").
Briella has reentered the Top 10 after a very long absence, this time with a more old-fashioned middle name to ground it. I also think I've finally settled on a middle name for
Naomi.
Looking back in my posts, these were my "Top 16" (I was still dealing in 8s instead of 10s) ten years ago:
Cameron Malachy, "
Cam"
Cassander Logan, "
Cass"
Hunter LelandJames Alexander Nikolai, "
Jamie"
Mark EmmanuelNicodemus Andrew, "
Nick"
Richard Thomas, "
Ricky"
Silas Anthony&
Alice IndiaBarbara CelesteCharlotte Grace Clemency, "Char"
Lily RainMarie-Soleil
AxelleOlivia Heather Paige, "
Livvy"
Penelope Wren, "
Poppy"
Rose Emily Ludivine
...
Alice was in my top names? A couple months ago I created a post asking,
"Help me like Alice, please" (
https://www.behindthename.com/bb/baby/5178465), but seeing this 10 years ago means I
did like
Alice at some point, and completely forgot. I have to admit,
Alice India does have a certain ring to it - although I'd hesitate to use
India in real life due to colonialist and altogether insensitive implications. Also, "
Grace Clemency" is redundant and I strongly dislike both names now, so I have no idea what they're doing here.
Marie-Soleil
Axelle, I remember this combo! I still think Marie-Soleil is a great French double name.
Rose Emily Ludivine actually has a nice flow, this one caught me by surprise.
Barbara Celeste is interesting as well (I see
Celeste returned 10 years later), if an odd mix of eras.
Lily Rain is corny, and
Olivia Heather Paige is dreadfully unimaginative.
Penelope Wren is familiar, as that's the combo that stuck around the longest.
As for the boys...
Cameron has been on-and-off the list for many years, but I remember the pairing with
Malachy. And
Hunter Leland was another mainstay, before I decided
Hunter really was too violent. But I see my fascination with
Nick had manifested even then, with a middle
Nikolai and first
Nicodemus!
Mark Emmanuel and
Silas Anthony are blasts from the past - and I remember how much I used to dig
Cassander!
Richard Thomas was my great-grandfather's name. While I would still use
Richard in a heartbeat, this combo is admittedly a bit bland. I'd more likely use
Richard Arthur, or maybe
Richard Ambrose.
