Long way to go yet, but we were thinking of naming our baby after both grandmothers. My mother's name is Margaret. My husband's mother's and was Jeanette. I'm not sold on Margaret, although it is a classic. We were thinking Margo. Thoughts?

I love Margo, but I prefer the spelling Margot. The t is not pronounced. It's cute and reminds me of Anne Frank's sister.

Margo is a very pretty name. Since Margaret means "pearl", you could also use Pearl as a way to honor your mother.

Margo is nice, though I prefer the spelling Margot. If you're honoring people, Margot Jeannette would sound lovely IMO.

Love it! It's so classy and old-fashioned in a "hip" way. And I much prefer that spelling over Margot.

Some other options, just for vairety:

Marguerite
Greta (Gretel, Gretchen)
Daisy (often used as a nickname for Margaret)
Megan (Meagan, etc.)

Opinion on Margeret: too old fashioned. How about Margarita?
Nicknames: I like Meg best.
Margo: No offense, but ugh.

I LOVE the name Margo. It is much better than Margaret, Maggie, Megan, etc... Margo Jeanette sounds nice.

Margo is lovely, though I prefer Margot. Margaret is also really nice, and Molly is such a sweet nn. Jeanette is dull imo, sorry, but what about Jane instead?
You could then do,
Margot Jane or
Margaret Jane "Molly"

I really hate it, sorry. It just sounds so ugly to me. I do, on the other hand, like Margot (with a spoken T: MAHR-goht) a lot.

Greta
Margareta
Margarita

If you aren't sold on Margaret, you might like Margaret as the birth certificate name with one of the many nicknames: Greta, Gretchen, Maggie, Margie, Meg, Megan, Meggie, Daisy, Peggy, or Rita.

Ya...no offense (naming after grandmothers is a WONDERFUL idea), but those aren't exactly gorgeous names...maybe variations? Such as Marguerite for Margaret, etc.?
