Thoughts on Eban for a boy or a cat? In the case of boy, what do you think his parents are like?

I'd accept it for a cat. I'd expect that the boy's parents had aimed for Eben, short for Ebenezer, and missed.

Well, I don't like this name at all. For a cat, yes, a boy, not at all.
