No. I like Rayne for a girl and Rain as a middle name for both genders.

Don’t love the sound of the name anyway, but this is the worst possible spelling. Rain is the best, but even Raine, Rayne, and Rayn are better.

I really like it as a mn for a girl. I love Amalia Reign and Naia Reign.

It's a little cringey to me. It sounds exactly like Rain so it seems like a respelling of Rain by people who would spell Ashley as Ashleigh and maybe don't understand that Reign is a verb and it's not about nobility per se but about domination ... for a limited time?? It's bizarrely not namey and the only thing that makes it namey is that it sounds like surname Rayne, which sounds like the word Rain ... and those aren't even namey imo, they're just trendy as names ... It's kind of like using Cruise as a name. If I'm being a jerk I want to say, "dude ... it's Cruz. Means cross. Did you know."ETA maybe it refers to the "reign" of some spiritual force or god?? Maybe I just don't get it?Anyway I'm not totally unable to suppress my cringe. It's a name now. Rayne, Rain, Raine, Reign, whatever.
It's not as good as Roman, Royal, and King; not as bad as Saint, Tru, Cohen, Creed, Crew, Knox, Blaze

I kind of like it? It reminds me a bit of Reine or Regina. I wouldn’t use it but wouldn’t mind seeing it on someone else.

Best on a girl

It feels gaudily pretentious and therefore actually tacky. I'm fine with Rain, being more of a nature name. I think I prefer Raine most of all, though.

I know Kourtney Kardashian used this name for her son or something. It's not that bad.

I think it's stupid and pretentious.

Honestly, what's the point? The time a monarch spends on the throne? A homonym for Rain - which is not a favourite either? It's not a wonderfully gorgeous sound, or I don't think so. I'd rather use Rachael or Reinette.

AwfulIt sounds ugly, and the monarchical meaning/association is...unsavory.

That pompous sounding name falls into rather trendy "word names" category.
But personally I'd prefer Rain, which sounds similar.
P.S. Regina, Renata and Rene give me the similar feeling, somehow.

Agree! Rain is fine, but "Reign" denotes royalty, and that's an absolute turn off for me.

This has been discussed recently. I think it's absolutely awful. Makes me think of someone who reigns over others.Rain is better.
