I love this name with the pronunciation MAY-gan.
I'd usually prefer the traditional spelling but I think most people would pronounce it as MEE-gan
Do you think that changing the spelling would make any difference?

I've never heard Megan pronounced MEE-gan. Is that normal in some places? News to me, and I don't like it at all.
Sorry, but I think Maegan is absurd. It started as a tacky (and failed) attempt to make a name look extra Irish. A name that wasn't Irish to start with!
Then again, I think the name Megan in any form is desperately tired and should be left well alone, for a few decades at least.

I prefer the spelling Megan, however you pronounce it, because I think Maegan just looks silly.
I've never heard of either the MAY-gen or MEE-gan pronounciation, except on this board, but I think the people you know will learn to pronounce your child's name however you tell them to, so I wouldn't really worry too much about whether to add an 'a' or not.

If you want to pronounce the name as MAY-gan, then I would definitely use the spelling Maegan.

I prefer Megan. I seriously don't think anyone would think of pronouncing it MEE-gan. It's probably common enough where everyone would know how it sounds. If anything, you might get a few people saying it MEH-gan.

I, personally, do not pronounce either name differently. I pronounce both Megan and Maegan as MAY-gan. I've met someone who did pronounce it as MEE-gan and she spelled it as Meegan. I've also met someone named Meggan who pronounces it as MEG-anne.
I pronounce the pronunciation MAY-gan with the spelling Megan. Maegan looks so sloppy to me.

I pronounce "Megan" MEH-gahn, and "Maegan" MAY-gahn. The MEE-gan pronounciation I would spell as "Meegan". So yes, I think the spelling change does make a difference.
As for the MAY-gan sound - I think I'd prefer it spelt Maygan, to be honest - as unambigious as possible. ^_^

I don't pronounce Megan Mee-gan. I know it as Me-gen (short first e) and that pronounciation I like. May-gen is really weird and sounds a bit strange. I don't like Maegan and I would pronounce Maegen like Megan.

Same here. Every Megan I've come across has pronouced it Meg-an. Not once have I heard it pronouced Me-gan or May-gan. Maybe it's an accent thing. *shrugs*

As an almost 30-year-old Megan, I have a little experience with different pronunciations of it. Actually, I think that most of the time, the variety of pronunciations comes from where the person saying the name is from, not from the spelling. I mostly hear it pronounced somewhere between MEG-an and MAY-gan. Usually closer to the long A version (I live in a mid-atlantic state, so I don't know if that makes a difference). I've only been asked if it was MEE-gan by two people, one who knew someone who pronounced it that way (I don't know how it was spelled) and another who was from a foreign country and not a native English speaker.
Honestly, I'd go with Megan just because it's the traditional (and simplest) spelling and it won't make much difference to most people on the pronunciation. I really don't think you'll have a problem with the MEE-gan thing. Chalk the other differences up to local accents. Not everyone says things exactly the same way, is it really that big a deal?.
