[Opinions] Rebecca
Hi, I love the name Rebecca as well. Most people named Rebecca go by Becca nowadays, but I don't like Becca. I find Becca to be very childish. The nicknames I like are Rea "Ray" (unlike like the "ruh" beginning in Rebecca, but I find it cute and mature), Ray, Bex, Bec, and Becky. People aren't naming their daughters Rebecca much anymore, so it's really unique where I am. After about 2012, people stopped naming their daughters Rebecca here. Many Rebecca's are from 15-70 years old, while say a 9 year old Rebecca from 2012 is pretty rare. What are your opinions on the name Rebecca? I find this name sort of bland, but also kind of spicy. It reminds me of a spicy pretzel. I see the colors Orange, Purple, and Red with this name. I love the combos Rebecca Vivian, Rebecca Elise, and Rebecca Louise.

I don't dislike it, but I really think it's rather boring and bland indeed. Ray is a cute nickname, but I totally don't see it as a nickname for Rebecca. I kind of like Rea but am not in love with it either. I know a lot of very cool Rebeccas, Beccas and Beckies but I just don't like either of this version particularly much. It's a typical mummy name to me, although it may be just my association and not have much to do with the actual periods of this name's popularity anywhere.
Rebecca Elise and Rebecca Louise are nicely flowing combos, plus I like Elise and Louise on their own, but as middle names, they don't give Rebecca too much freshness which it would need in my opinion.
As for synaesthetic associations, the only association I have with this name is fish. :D Like the shape and taste of fish.

Overall, this name is okay. In 4th grade (I think!), I actually met a Rebecca, and she was very friendly. This is why is don't dislike this name, but I don't like any of its diminutives. Also, it's getting common now, so I wouldn't consider using it. A good association is Rebecca Zamolo.

I dislike all the nicknames for it. Ray doesn't work for me as a nickname for Rebecca at all, it seems really forced.Bex, Bec, Becky, Becca, Reba are all equally horrible, in my opinion.I like Ray but not as a nickname for Rebecca. It just doesn't make any sense. You might as well just name her Ray or Rachel.Rebecca is nice but really dated. All of the combos you listed are a bit boring and Vivian doesn't really go with it.

Don't know why, but I used to think about Rebecca, Rachel and Deborah as names rivalries.
And Rebecca has always been my favourite out of these three.

Rebecca is lovely. I think it has a touch of mystery about it, given the Daphne du Maurier story. But I much prefer it in full and I think it feels less dated that way. The only nickname I might possibly consider is Bex.

Ooh, the Daphne du Maurier story! Love that association. I would most likely use it in full form anyway, nicknames would be just for fun. Unless, my future daughter wants a nickname.

Rebecca is very nice, and it will never really go out of fashion or be "unique." It's familiar to everyone.
I know several Rebeccas of different ages, and only a couple of them go by nns. One is Becky and one is Becca, and I know one Becky who isn't a Rebecca.
Rae to me seems a stretch.
