Which would you choose between Ida and Opal?

Ida. But I pronounced it EYE-da. I do like Opal too.

I'd choose just about anything over Opal. I prefer Ida pronounced ee-dah rather than eye-dah.

I think I prefer Ida as a first name and Opal as a middle. Ida still gives me slightly cheesy, Midwestern kitsch vibes, but on the other hand, I think it's kind of cute, vintage, and probably due for a comeback.Opal still sounds a bit old-lady to me, but I think the meaning is cool and it's on-trend at the moment, so I would consider using it myself as a middle.

IdaThe important thing between them, for me, is the sound when I say them. In my accent, Ida is not as nice as Ada, but it's far nicer than Opal.

IdaIda - EE-dah, so sharp and fresh. It has a vintage "detective" aura. Not my favourite, but still appealing.
