And I've also found Ганik, as in here - https://5140.org/fop/3216852-ganik-oleksandr-petrovich
I still think Ганик is more common, but that might be the case...

There is a surname Ganik, spelled Ганик in Ukrainian.
If it's Ukrainian, it should be transliterated as Hanyk instead, while Hanik is a less accurate one.
It's shown here: https://www.behindthename.com/support/transcribe?type=UK&target=Ganik

Why on earth was this downvoted?! Maxima is correct. The Cyrillic spelling provided by Mary - Ганик - should indeed be transcribed as Hanyk if we are talking about Ukrainian Cyrillic:

Ганик would only be transcribed as Ganik in the Cyrillic alphabets of other countries, such as Bulgaria, Russia and Serbia.
The proper spelling of Ganik in Ukrainian Cyrillic would be Ґанік. Pretty subtle difference, but a significant one nonetheless.

Hi, this board is about first names (given names) not surnames or genealogy. You might have more luck on a genealogy site.
