Makes me think of Jeremy "Jem" Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird

It's ok. I see it working on both boys and girls. It has such a cutesy vibe that I only see it as a nickname: James, Jamesina, Jemma.

It's ok as a nn

It sincerely doesn't inspire to me anything. I don't mind on it. I prefer it for a girl because Jem is the English for the Italian word Gemma, which is used as a feminine name. I like Jem both as a full name and a nickname for Jemma and Gemma.
Jem makes me think to the eponymous cartoon-anime. I got to know it thanks to a CD with theme songs of 70s and 80s theme songs. The "Jem" one was a really good theme song. ;-)

Ooops. Sorry. Meant this as a comment on Jem in general.Love Jem, but only as a nn. It's so warm and friendly sounding.Jemima and Jamesina for a girl. Jeremy and James for a boy. :0)

Holy cow. Thanks. Good to hear from you too. :0)I had to leave because I got addicted to this site and lost too much time. Going to try to do better.

By the way, do you ever frequent the genie name polls? There's a user that uses that same style of smiley face you called FredaCat

FredaCatGuilty. I used to try to send users from babynamegenie here. "Tell them Bear sent you" was what I told them so it isn't a secret or anything. Unfortunately I was informed that I can't "advertise" another site there. So I had to choose and it was really difficult using two sites the way I like, fully. I still do try to send users here occasionally, especially writers. They aren't as welcome over there because it's more for expectant parents and the polls get pushed off the first page so quickly. That's why I came back today, to see if they took my advice. But of course I couldn't help getting involved here too. :0)

I knew it! Yeah I love you! Haha! I stopped using that site though cuz I just felt like it was kind of a toxic environment. People constantly accusing each other of not being "real parents" and using up space though one time when I utilized a poll to ask what percentage of the users were actually expected parents, politely of course, only like 15 to 20% confirmed that they were actually expecting parents. So to me it seems it's more about "maintaining the facade" of it than anything else. But you've been very helpful to be several times when I was still using it so thank you! :) you were definitely the best user on that platform.

With regards to that commentI work in additions treatment myself. One thing we can do for ourselves when we are addicted to a certain type of media, social media, Video Games Etc is set a certain time frame when you will allow yourself to engage in them. Like say 2 hours after dinner or similar for a video game on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But have an alarm on your phone ready to go off at the 1 hour and 55 minute mark. Have it go on snooze once to allow you 5 minutes to wrap up. That way it enables you to engage while also giving you the opportunity to not over indulge. I have to do the same thing when I play The Sims. There are different parameters we can enforce with addictive stimuli *outside of substances* that will help prevent us from becoming addicted.

That is very thoughtful, thanks. Dianatiger is closer to the mark actually. I started posting at another site and couldn't justify the amount of time I'd want to spend to do justice to the community of two sites. That other site is mostly expectant parents so as a nerd I feel I can influence name trends more over there. :0)

that's fair, I still do the same thing by answering polls on baby names center as well sometimes.

I dislike Jem, but I could imagine it working as a nn for Jemima. Alone, or as a nn for Jemma, James etc, it screams Fake Jewelry.
