I work in additions treatment myself. One thing we can do for ourselves when we are addicted to a certain type of media, social media, Video Games Etc is set a certain time frame when you will allow yourself to engage in them. Like say 2 hours after dinner or similar for a video game on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But have an alarm on your phone ready to go off at the 1 hour and 55 minute mark. Have it go on snooze once to allow you 5 minutes to wrap up. That way it enables you to engage while also giving you the opportunity to not over indulge. I have to do the same thing when I play The Sims. There are different parameters we can enforce with addictive stimuli *outside of substances* that will help prevent us from becoming addicted.
