Thoughts on Jayla?I think it would actually be quite pretty if it had a proper etymology.I like it better than Kayla but still...too trendy.Do you prefer Kayla? Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I think it’s really pretty, but definitely modern and trendy (which isn’t always a bad thing). I recently took it off my Considering list on my PNL after toying with it for a while, but I still do like it.

I don't like Jayla nor Kayla. Kayla is too dated.

I don't really like it though I do like Jay. I also prefer Kayla.About ten years ago someone I worked with had a daughter named Jayla, which considering we're in the UK and it sounds exactly like the word "jailor" to me, I thought was a little odd but he (and his wife) obviously liked it. He was of Trinidadian heritage, and I think visited the US a lot. I think of it as being a very American name.

Jay with the suffix la feels rather haphazard. It isn't awful, and I actually like the sound a bit better than Layla, but it feels so trendy like it is one and apart with the Laylas and Kaylas rather than its own unique entity.

Perfect for a prison warder.

In my accent Jayla is indistinguishable from 'jailor', so it's not for me.I don't like Kayla much either tbh.

Jayla is better

Well, I like Jael, so I kind of wish it was Jaela. That would give it a "proper etymology" if it was based on Jael. I don't prefer Kayla - Kaila is ok.

Now, I'm sorry in advance for being awful but... Jayla is maybe one of the worst names I can think of. It is foul. It is all that I dislike about modern naming trends. It's fug. I think Kayla is horrible as well. I CAN however, with a gun to my head, see something redeemable about Kayley.

Hahaha, that's okay.I actually hated it and then I heard it pronounced on a show and thought "well, if it had an etymology I might not hate it, it sounds kind of happy".I dislike Kayla too but I sort of like Kayley etc. even though I wouldn't use it.

I don't like the "jail" sound in it.

It isn't as common as Kayla, that's for sure. I think Kayla is actually sort of dated, but I find it a very solid name. I've known 2 Jayla's in my life. Both were my age. I think I prefer Kayla. Jayla isn't bad though at all, and the nickname Jay is cute and pretty.

Sounds too much like ‘jailor’ in non-rhotic accents.
