I don't really like it though I do like Jay. I also prefer Kayla.
About ten years ago someone I worked with had a daughter named Jayla, which considering we're in the UK and it sounds exactly like the word "jailor" to me, I thought was a little odd but he (and his wife) obviously liked it. He was of Trinidadian heritage, and I think visited the US a lot. I think of it as being a very American name.
