Murdoch is not Murdock. I use the Scottish pronunciation which isn’t easy to explain in written form. If anyone is interested google a Scottish person saying loch to get an idea.

Murdo doesn't please me: it just looks homicidal. Murdoch as a fn, I've never seen. I was at school with a family of Murdoch people who did pronounce it Murdock. But, I know a family that originated in Moray and emigrated to South Africa at the beginning of the 20th century: they have retained the Scottish pronunciation.

I don’t like the beginning (murd-) I think it sounds really harsh and ugly.
