Murdo doesn't please me: it just looks homicidal. Murdoch as a fn, I've never seen. I was at school with a family of Murdoch people who did pronounce it Murdock. But, I know a family that originated in Moray and emigrated to South Africa at the beginning of the 20th century: they have retained the Scottish pronunciation.
