I like this name, but prefer it spelled either Gwendolyn or Gwendolen.I pronounce it as GWEHN-dah-lynn.As for nicknames, Wendy’s my favorite but I like Gwen or Gwyn as well. I also like Gwendy, but it’s a gp nickname for me.

I don't particularly like Gwendoline, I prefer Gwendolyn. I pronounce Gwendoline GWEN-də-leen.

I dislike the blocked-drain sound of Gw- , and that eliminates Gwyneth as well. I'd rather just use Wendy. At gunpoint, however, I'd use Gwendolen, which makes my preferred pronunciation clear. At sight, Gwendoline could rhyme with Caroline or Josephine, and Gwendolyn, Marilyn etc are dated.

This is my favourite spelling - it's more complete than Gwendolyn and Gwendolen. In fact, out of the three spellings, Gwendoline is the most used in my country (although it is a really, really rare name here...).I only like Gwen as a nickname. Wendy seems more like a standalone name.In Spanish it's mostly pronounced gwen-do-LEEN, however in Latin American Spanish it's sometimes pronounced like in English.

just fyi ...Please try and consolidate your posts; we really are not supposed to post more than, I think, four new threads a day, and you've got several one after the other after the other. It's fine to ask about several names in the same post. No, I don't like Gwendolyn or Gwendoline or any name with the gw sound. The sound is just very unattractive to me.

I didn't open more than fourthe Araminta thread is from yesterday. So I didn't do anything wrong.Yes, I could put them into one post but we all know that threads get more and better replies when you ask about the names separately.

You didn't break the rule, but RoxStar has a point. Whilst addressing each name separately might get more replies, it's still discourteous to the people who take up less space by combining their posts. Remember that each new thread you start knocks an older thread off the board, cutting off any ongoing discussions on that thread.

I'm sorry, but I disagree.I posted 4 times yesterday, once the day before, once the day before that and before that not at all for a few days. I didn't do anything wrong and I wasn't rude. This is simply not true. There are people that overpost way more than I ever do.And pretty much everyone opens threads on one name only, and then on another name etc. Not many people post lists. So telling me I am discourteous or implying that I did something wrong is just not correct and it's not fair towards me at all.I honestly find this very rude because I am one of the posters who always tries her best to be nice, who never overposts or posts spam or criticizes others unnecessarily. So I don't understand why I am getting this now. There are so many users who post super rude threads, constantly attack others, constantly pick fights etc etc and they never get called out. So this make me angry, to be honest, and it makes me think about leaving this board which I have thought about quite frequently in the past couple of months. This board is just not a friendly place anymore and I genuinely wish we had an "ignore" button.By calling people out who aren't rude and who are trying their best to be friendly you make this board a more hostile place. Where were you when other users were needlessly criticized? This happens all of the time and no one does a thing.By the way there is an option to sort the posts by "newest reply", so no threads get lost or anything.

Although we should all be more cautious before posting whatever thoughts cross our minds, be they rude or simply unnecessary (myself included… I can’t pretend I don’t let my stream of consciousness get away from me), I’ve never thought of Perrine as somebody who crowds up the boards and pushes threads down. Her questions over the last few days have a point and they relate to the board. Sometimes names condensed into a list make sense if they have a common theme or feel, but some deserve to be discussed on their own. Since Perrine is the one asking, only she can decide how important it is for her to get specific answers about specific names. Since she didn’t break the rules here, I’m not sure why we’re even addressing it. Several names every single day gets tedious sure, but I think there are people on here who are far more guilty of that.

To be fair…The furthest you can currently go back and still respond is around May 23, 2020. If you look at recent replies, you won’t find anything even close to that date. I think this whole criticism of Perrine’s posts is kind of pointless.

I would pronounce it as gwen-do-lien.For some reason I prefer Gwendolyn. I kinda of like the sound of it though. I would prefer it’s nicknames Gwen and Wendy, though.

I think I would use Gwendoline. There has always, ALWAYS been something about ‘y’s that have bothered me when in the middle of a name; I’m getting better at not being so irrational about this, since there are so many pretty names with this, er, feature(?) but if there was another option that was legit and not ridiculous, I would go with that; hence Gwendoline.I like Gwen a lot, but it does still feel find of dated to me, and I do prefer Gwyn (but not necessarily as a nickname for Gwendoline).I never thought of Wendy being a nickname for Gwendoline, that’s actually quite nice.

I'm more of a Guinevere person myself but Gwendolyn is still quite pretty. The nickname Gwen is very Charming. one of my friends long-standing favorite girl names that she wants to use someday so I've gotten quite accustomed to it. She wants to use Gwendolyn Renee someday.
