I pronounce it how you would. I’m also confused by Lila which I want to pronounce as “Leela”.

I do prefer Layla or Laila. It’s golden yellow whereas Leila is green grey.

Here in Germany Lila is LEE-la too and it means "purple". But I can see how it could be pronounced LIE-la in English speaking countries.

My brain does this thing where it automatically pronounces names the Italian way, a lot of English pronounciations feel arbitrary any way.
