lol 'a character in a movie'. A bit of a disservice to Shirley Jackson and a novel considered one of her best! While I'm not the biggest fan myself of 'We Have Always Lived in the Castle', it is a classic.
I'm not a fan of the name Merricat though. It works for the character but is a bit much for real life.

Sorry, I just recently saw the movie and I had no idea it was based on a book.

Had I known it was a book, I would’ve wanted to read that first. Most of the time the books are better than the movies.
I thought the movie was okay, I’ll have to read the book to compare.
