For many years I couldn't recite that poem without crying. Can I today? The theory remains untested.
On a two-hour bus trip with a friend, after a long day in the big city, we kept awake by reciting it from memory, helping each other when we got stuck. I don't think we finished it, but it served its purpose.
Eh, it only takes about 3 minutes to recite. Maybe you're thinking of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner...
Nope! I'm only too well aware of how hard it was for us to remember Kublai Khan after many years of neglect! And stumbling blocks, like "What comes before 'in a vision once I saw'?", slowed us down dreadfully.
