Edward but Edward is a family name and “joke” relating to teddy bears. I don’t dislike Robert.

Both are family names. I'd probably use Edward, because I would probably have already used Robin (m), which is also a family name.

I prefer Edward, though wouldn't personally use as I dislike Eddie and Teddy (though love Ted)Robert is OK but I really dislike Rob, Robbie, Bob. Bobby is ok on a little boy but is quite childish sounding

I really like both, and nicknames Rob & Eddy as well—I suppose I’ll go with Robert today.

Edward.It’s not my favorite, but I like it well enough and definitely like it MUCH better than Robert, which I don’t care for at all. (It was also in the running for my nephew’s name, but they ultimately settled on something else.)
