[Opinions] Which Name
My husband and I were pretty set on Cassian (nn Cass) for a boy but recently we've started talking about Otto. Which would you use and why?

Cassian for sure. Otto has never been attractive to me.

OttoCassian is fussy in a way that's not fun.

Otto!!Lord do I love Otto. It's one of those great names that is formal and intelligent but can also moonlight as a goofy rural type, and it has a touch of the gothic about it. It's right up my alley, I'd use it for sure. I'd be so happy if I met an Otto.

One of my poetry professors has a son named Otto. He's rambunctious and astute and five years old, and he has huge brown eyes. His full name is Otto M c G r 1 f f, which I just love.

Otto. It is more familiar to people. It is a palindrome but wonderfully short. It's a neat tidy name. Cassian has an ever-so-small pretentious air.

CassianOtto reminds me too much of otter and auto. It's look and sound are not appealing. It has a duty old man vibe also.Cassian is more youthful (but will age fine), is pleasant sounding and looks more like a name (not just two syllables mushed together in a palindrome).

Cassian. I can’t picture Otto on a kid; Otto is either a dog or a middle-aged, duck hunting, Alaskan bush person with a big, long beard.

CassianIt sounds more energetic and Cass is a really nice nickname. Otto sounds like Auto to me.

Cassian. It sounds more complete and suits for all ages. Otto is too old.

Cassian, definitely. Otto makes me think of either an old man who plays checkers in the park or a big guy who likes to enter yodeling competitions.

It's funny because I don't hate the checkers or yodeling image haha. My husband and I are absolutely nerds

Honestly I don't hate those associations either! I actually mostly associate Otto with this big mustachioed absolute sweetheart of an old man who ran the general store/deli in my town when I was a little kid. He sold stuff like homemade pickled eggs and really good fudge ripple ice cream and always called me Shrimp Basket (I always love weirdly specific nicknames). So the name Otto gives me the warm and fuzzies, but I just can't imagine it on a little kid because it will always make me think of an old man. And also pickled eggs.

Cassian. Definitely Cassian.

CassianI love Cassian, it sounds distinguished and simultaneously ancient and sci-fi. Otto is kind of crusty.

I like both but slightly prefer OttoI also know a gorgeous 5 year old Caspian which is obviously very similar to Cassian
