[Opinions] Do you believe...
That there are actually some names out there that genuinely cannot fit a certain race? If so, list those names. Feel free to state why.People say Sakura can’t fit non-Japanese girl.I remember I had a friend say Ciara is a white girl name.I also heard somebody say Emma cannot fit a black girl. What do you think?"People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing all day."'*•.¸♡ Have a great day/night! ♡¸.•*' Rate my personal name list please :) https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/217493

Yes and no. I do think that names like Yomiko, Sakura, and Mohammed are best when used by people of Japanese or Arabic ethnicities but I think it has more to do with culture or religion than race.I do think that it’s fine to name your child what name you like regardless of culture. I had a black friend named Carmen and a blond blue eyed friend named Winona. True, you might not want to use Mohammed if you’re not Muslim or Sakura if you’re not Japanese but there are many lovely names out there from different cultures and if you like one use it.

No. I agree that Sakura doesn't git a non-Japanese girl, but that's because of culture, not race.

I think all names with a “western” origin can be used for anyone who lives in places where “western” language is predominantly used and is their mother language. The root cause of some name being “weird” is because of their structures, eg Japanese names goes in “consonant-vowel” pattern, and Chinese names (or name-words to be more accurate) are all one-syllable names. But what I dislike the most is the mythology names. Something like Leda is usable, but the names that belong to major deities shouldn’t be used at all, and they may not even intended to be used at all!But no matter what, I think the topic you raised is an interesting one and I’d like to see more of them!

Any name for all!

I think any name can fit any person. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and all that. This is why "cultural appropriation" is a hard sell with me.

No.Emma really works on everyone. It's the ultimate faceless name to me that I can imagine on anyone, any personality, any face, any hair, eye and skin color. When I hear Ciara I always think of a black haired girl because it means "black" but I know a redhead named Ciara and it works well on her as well.Sakura also works on anyone, in my opinion. The sound pattern is quite modern and seems familiar and there are a million anime characters named this (with black, pink, blond etc. hair) and I mainly think of cardcaptor Sakura who is Japanese with auburn hair and blue eyes and in general I think of the color pink a lot because of the cherry blossoms so to me it is just a magical colorful name. I know a white girl called Midori and it works on her. I know a girl with blue eyes, fair skin and blond hair and a Western surname called Yumiko and it works on her (her grandpa is Japanese and named her but only people who know her more closely know that background story).
