Help[Opinions] Naming After Grandparents
If you had twin daughters like George W. Bush and like him named each one after a grandmother what would their names be? Would they flow or sound mismatched? What if the twins were boys and named after their grandfathers?
Mine would be Deborah and Diana or Ian and John
As Ian and John are the same name I would also use one of the middle names either James or William. Deborah is a little old fashioned but it would give me a chance to use Bee as a nn

My grandmothers are two different people. However, both of their names are combo names, so it would probably work. Patty-Jean and Tamarlee (combo of Tammy and Lee). Haha! I never realised that before to be honest.

In my case it would be Ana María and Consuelo and my grandparents Felipe and Juan. I do not like any of the four names, I consider them too old-fashioned, simple and boring. I don't even like how the English conversion sounds. My mother is called Juana after my grandfather Juan and my father is called Felipe also after my grandfather. My brother would have been named after them, but my mother refused and instead she named him Kilian. In my opinion, it is much better.

My grandmothers are Gail and Wynona, so they would be terribly mismatched, lol! (The middle names, Patricia and Rose, go slightly better.)
My grandfathers, however, were Richard and Donald, which do match - so much that my paternal grandfather actually had an older brother named Donald! (I wouldn't use Donald, though; I'm much more of a Donovan fan.) Their middle names were Frank and Charles, which sort of go, but aren't names I would ever use.
If I were allowed to be creative with the names... the sets would be Abigail & Rosalie, and Richard & Donovan.

My biological grandmothers are named Joan and Elizabeth, both of which I think are a bit old-fashioned and plain but not terrible. If I had to do first name tributes to them I'd use variations, such as Johanna and Elise.
My grandpa's names were LeRoy and Milton, not sure what I can really do with those lol!
Fun fact, I'm named after my dad's grandmother. If I'd had a twin and he'd followed these guidelines I guess her name would have been Louise.

I'm going to do this exercise with both of my own grandparents in mind.
Mine would be Patricia & Sherry. I was into the idea of honoring my Nana Patricia for a while when I was younger but it just feels so "tired" of a name. Tricia is kind of cute it could still be a serviceable nickname. Sherry is imo unusable because of the alcohol reference. If I were to honor this grandma I would probably go with Sherilyn like Sherilyn Fenn the actress. So also possibly Patricia "Tricia" & Sherilyn or even Patrice & Sherilyn. If 1 twin was named for my mother like the Bush twins one would be named Susannah though I would consider electing for a different spelling, Suzana and called her Zana.
I was already planning on naming a son after my maternal grandfather, Leo. My other grandfather I assure you does not deserve to be honored, but if he were it would be Leo & Gordon. But Gordon is ugly, old and unappealing so if I had wanted to use it I would have altered it to Gordo or similar. Leo and Gordo.

Well, I'm currently not in a relationship with anyone who might want to co-parent with me so I'd be missing half the set. I'm going to do my own grandparents, as if it was my sisters or brothers.
Jadwiga and Krystyna. Jadzia and Krysia. It could make me cry from the sheer adorableness. However, they are both extremely dated. Everyone meeting them would immediately know the names were honouring, they were practically unheard of in my generation, they were exclusively grandma names. Which, on the other hand, means they go rather well together.
Piotr and Michał. Those also go well together because they are just the plainest, boringest names imaginable. Popular across all generations. Nothing memorable about them at all.
A funny thing is, that if my parents did have either of these sets all of these names would be painfully mismatched with mine and my sister's names.

Rosy and Bianca, which is a bit matchy I guess.

The boys are too Biblical together for my tastes - they sound like a deliberate choice to name them after disciples - though I like both individually. Also, Paul is the name of my stepson's Dad (ie, my wife's ex) so we were never going to use it.

Adele is a pretty name. I thought it was going to skyrocket up the charts after its grand entry a few years ago, but it hasn't seemed to catch on. I wonder why? Maybe because the celebrity is still present to people?

Beatrice and Bertha! We did use Beatrice; she didn't have a mn, but luckily we liked the name and loved the original owner. Bertha, an Afrikaans lady who died very young, was Bertha Maria, and our first daughter had Beatrice Mary as her mns. We thought it worked well. However, looking at grandfathers, we'd have been stuck with Cecil (I'd use Cecily willingly!) and Ernest Fraser. There are lots of Fraser people, some with it as a fn, some as a mn, so we decided against it though we do like it. And Ernest and Cecil are just too dated. (If we lived in a German-speaking place, we'd have considered Ernst, but we don't and didn't.)
