[Opinions] Bjarne
BYAHR-NEHWhat do you think of the name Bjarne? Is it usable in English speaking countries?

I've only heard it as a nickname for Björn (also spelled Björne). I think it's workable as a nickname, but it's childish and ugly as a given name. Björn means bear in Swedish, so it's like using Teddy as a given name (Teddy feels more like a name than Bjarne though).

I love ABBA and DH loves tennis, so Bjorn is more familiar (can't do diacritals, sorry!) to me and probably to most English speakers. I would be surprised to meet one whose family had no Scandinavian connections.
