Biblical names are always hit or miss. Some are classic and great and others seem ridiculous and should stay in the past. This is a perfect example -
Abigail has stuck around and become classic. It has fine nicknames like
Abby,
Abbie,
Gail and isn’t there are other associations besides just being Biblical. It still sounds like a normal name to a modern person.
Bathsheba is only going to envoke the Biblical story (and not a very pleasant one), it sounds strange in modern times, especially since it starts with the word bath- and there isn’t really a good nickname to use. What would people call her, Bath, She,
Sheba, Bat? It reminds me of a name from a fantasy story, like a name I wouldn’t be surprised to come across in a
Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or
Percy Jackson book.
