Libby Sarah Chaim (16) is Hailey's best friend. She's a persian jew, and although she's not religious, she has a very strong national conscience. She is active in the Betar zionist youth group, and the (illegal) jewish defense league. she fiercely opposes jewish intermarriage with non-jews. She speaks with a light judeo-persian accent, both because it's the language she uses at home, and because she wants to make her identity and pride well known. She has a fierce militant jewish stance, which makes her have a few run-ins with the authorities. She also seems to be a bit of a tomboy, spending many hours running outside and working on her physique. Even so, she does enjoy makeup with Hailey, though she's not a big fan of american consumerism, preferring persian music and hebrew literature.
