[Opinions] WDYT of Katrinel?
The post earlier asking about Katharine had me thinking about other variants of Katherine - both in English (my first language) and other languages. I came across Catrinel, which is a Romanian diminutive, and though I normally dislike diminutives as full / "legal" names, this looks and sounds to me enough like it could be an independent name. And I think it sounds gorgeous - a bit softer than, say, Katrina, though equally as noticeable. Then I remembered that Katherine, et al is one case where I prefer K to C. So...
Katrinel.
This variant is not in BtN, not even as a submitted name. I don't even know if this is anybody's name in the real world, or a name that has ever been used in literature / entertainment. But I find myself really, really liking it!
Anyway, wdyt?
Edit--Katrinel is now a submitted name, though apparently quite rare

I prefer Karina
It's neat, although it doesn't seem softer than Katrina to me (*nel seems a bit strident to me, just not in a way I dislike).
I think I prefer the Catrinel spelling. I also prefer Catherine and Catriona (over K versions for those names). But I think I still like Katrell a little more than all of them.

It's... surprisingly beautiful. Sounds like something a character from 'Game of Thrones' could bear as a given name. I came across Catrinel as well and I have to say I prefer this variant. In addition, I quite enjoy Katrielle.
Anyway, before reading your post, I saw someone submitted it.

I would keep it as Catrinel, it flows much better and looks less whiny. Katrinel is mediocre to me, it's sounds clash and it isn't easy on the ears.
