The post earlier asking about
Katharine had me thinking about other variants of
Katherine - both in English (my first language) and other languages. I came across
Catrinel, which is a Romanian diminutive, and though I normally dislike diminutives as full / "legal" names, this looks and sounds to me enough like it could be an independent name. And I think it sounds gorgeous - a bit softer than, say,
Katrina, though equally as noticeable. Then I remembered that
Katherine, et al is one case where I prefer K to C. So...
Katrinel.
This variant is not in BtN, not even as a submitted name. I don't even know if this is anybody's name in the real world, or a name that has ever been used in literature / entertainment. But I find myself really, really liking it!
Anyway, wdyt?
Edit--Katrinel is now a submitted name, though apparently quite rare
