The most popular names of 2021 has officially been released by SSA. Woohoo! (: Here they are: (Many seemed to stay the same in their rank number)#1 Liam (0)

#7 Benjamin (0)
#8 Lucas (0)

So basically, relatively no change in the boys list. But Theodore is in now (No surprise there) and Alexander is out? Huh wasn’t expecting that.I’m happy Ava is going down. Such a basic and boring name... Harper I never cared for and it’s time to give her a rest too. No words for the rest of them even though I actually thought Emma was going to decrease.

I pretty much suspected that Emma would remain the same for this year, but I'm thinking next year it might start to decrease somewhat; switch places with Charlotte perhaps, in terms of ranking.
Harper isn't a name thats been within the top 10 for very long, but can leave all the same. It's horrible. I'm thinking it very well might by next year and be replaced with Luna.

I suspected Theodore would break the top 10! I can see Charlotte becoming #1 soon too.Interesting to see so little movement, other than Theodore. I mean, I don't generally pay a lot of attention to these things, but it feels like there's a lot of 0s up there. I wonder if the pandemic affected things? Fewer babies being born, more conservative choices made by parents?

Yeah, definitely a lot of static going on for some reason. Hope next years not so "dull" Hope there's more movement and shifting

I commented on the other SSA post that showed up at the same time as this one, but I am somewhat impressed that the girls list is so static, since popularity for feminine names is known to fluctuate more than for masculine names. Though the only real change is replacing Alexander with Theodore (which really did make quite the jump, I'm with you in awe). There are going to be lots of little Theos in the future (and then that's going to become a dated nickname, and 20 years from now people will start using Ted like their great-grandfathers.)Regarding Harper, I don't think she'll leave until a new "sporty" name takes her place. Avery has been falling, so I don't think that's the one. Same with Riley (plus other spelling variants). I suppose Madison could return (blech!)...

Madison is highly unlikely to return so soon. In a few years Everly might make the top ten, though. It's already close when you add spellings together.

Yeah, I don't think Madison will. At least not for a very long time. If anything, I'm pretty sure Luna will be Harper's replacement. Not exactly a "sporty" name, but doesn't necessarily have to be. Everly entering top 10 would be a surprise. It seems to be going down, and plus it just doesn't seem "top 10" material. Just a modern, trendy name. (although far better and friendlier than 'Beverly' IMO.)
