Edwin surprises his family by marrying his neighbour a girl his age who works as a typist at a newspaper office and dreams of attending the opera, at the early age of 18. Though his wife is of rather humbler origins than he is, his parents don't mind, as the same was the case between them. They move to
London, where his wife can fulfill her lifelong dream of attending the opera, and
Ed starts training as a pilot. A year into their marriage, a son is born.
Artemisia, while liked by all her siblings, is especially close to
Beatrice, whom she regards with awe. She has taken up drawing to imitate her sister, and quickly outgrew her in skill.
Clement has developed his musical talent, and achieved success in national competitions.

Edwin's wife's
first name ends in -ella. Her
middle name is currently considered an "old lady name". Her
maiden name is a place name, the site of a famous battle.
His son's
first name is that of a famous operatic character (one from an opera that existed before 1910). His
first middle name comes from this brief list:

second middle name honours one of the (male) Olympians (as in Greek gods, not people who won the Olympics!)
