[Opinions] WDYTO Destiny
Destiny has been on my mind lately. I honestly kind of like it but should it just stay a GP? Do you feel it’s tacky? Is it dated? For what it’s worth, Destinee just looks annoying. I also recently saw an episode of Judge Judy on You Tube that had a litigant named Destyni. Everyone in the comments was in agreement that was horrible.

I feel like Destiny gets a little too much hate. Yeah it’s not one of the most beautiful names ever, but it’s hardly the worst either. Destinee is ugly. Destyni is also ugly. Destiny itself is not tacky but the girl is probably gonna have some rough jokes and innuendos in life about her name. The stripper thing doesn’t make it much better, even though I think it’s a regular name.

I sort of like Destiny but not enough to use.It makes me think of bonnets and pilgrims even though that probably doesn't make sense. It reminds me of names like Mercy.Yes, most people will dislike it or find it tacky. It doesn't have a good image. But I like it.

I used to kinda-sorta like it when I was about 10. Even then I recognized it was a little hollow, though. Now I feel a little more negative to it. I'll admit it has a nice sound but the meaning is too in your face and it seems a little uninspired. Destyni is an atrocity.

Dated, maybe; I've never encountered it IRL. If I wanted a Des daughter, I'd go for Desiree to honour a friend; as word names go, Destiny really isn't interesting at all.

Once upon a time, a spinoff of the Beanie Kids Beanie Babies was named Destiny. She had vibrant orange hair and a very colorful outfit. I'm not exactly sure when it came out, but it was the first time I'd encountered anything with the actual name Destiny. At the time - which must have been twenty years ago now - I thought it sounded tacky.Twenty years later, I think it sounds both dated and tacky.I've encountered girls named Destinee and Destiney in the real world, and honestly those spellings just made it worse.

Do think it both dated and tacky. Also hate the idea of slapping 'fate' on a kid, it seems a confining, straightjacket of a name.

I really liked it for a while, then I was turned off the name for a time and now I really like it again! I prefer it for a mn, but it does work as a fn too. I love the meanings of the Latin root words (to determine, to stand) that the word Destiny comes from. Those meanings appeal to me a great deal.
