While there is no doubt to be had that Edward loves his daughters - Annabel was joined by a younger sister four years ago - he clearly treats Alfred preferentially, already grooming the 10 year-old to take over the Pembroke hotel chain one day. Alfred enjoys the attention very much, especially since he knows he will leave for Eton in a year, and thus get to spend less time with his father.

Both Alfred and Annabel were forced into their church's choir kicking and screaming. However, while Alfred was so abjectly terrible the director had to gently tell Lavinia that if she didn't withdraw her son from the choir, he would surely go deaf, Annabel has proven immensely talented, with a clear, lilting soprano.

While Annabel and her younger sister are not very similar in appearance, the younger of the girls having inherited her father's dark hair and eyes, much like her brother, they are very close, with Annabel doting on her sister, often reading her stories to bed and drawing with her.
