It's very cute. I like it for a girl but don't think it's "funny" on a guy. I would like to see it become truly unisex - popular for any child, again.

I think I prefer it as a girl name, but in my mind I just want to stay it as a boy's name. I think Traci or Theresa are better for a girl.

Dickens used it as a male fn in, I think, The Pickwick Papers. It would have been a lnfn in his time; nothing to do with Theresa or Terence or whatever. I find it flimsy but cheerful, and strictly female. And also dated: most Tracy people where I live are or could be grandmothers by now.

I've known a lot of gals Tracy and one guy. I like it pretty well, I guess. Not my favorite sounds, but it's nice. It's "dated" but I don't have a negative feeling about it because of that. It's about like Shannon that way, imv.
I prefer it on a gal, I guess mainly because I expect one.
I think it's kinda neat as a "cowboy" style name for a guy. But I think Trace seems a little cooler and would be more widely liked.

Tracy is ok. No strong feelings on it, personally. However, it sort of gives me a 1970's vibe.

On a boy it feels very hillbilly for some reason.
On a girl I think it's cute and lively and even though it's dated now, still has a very youthful vibe to it, not like someone's grandma, even though the biggest wave of Tracys are grandma age now.My mother's youngest sisster was Tracey Marie. (I think it was spelled that way.) She died when she was five months old, accidentally suffocated in my grandparents' bed, so I never knew her.

I used to really love this name on a boy. When I was little, I didn't know anyone named Tracy. When I got older, I had a female boss named Tracy. She made me hate the name, and she made me see it as more feminine. Now I prefer Trace.
