I think it's probably a variant of Ottilia / Odelia, but Otho was semi-common here 100 years ago, so maybe that could have influenced the spelling.

Since Othello is an elaboration of Otho, that could still work as a feminization of Othello, even if it wasn't the parents' intention :-)

I have no idea, but I doubt it. Her parents were poor, Swedish farmers from Minnesota.
