Help[Opinions] Fauve
So I was reading “Mistral’s Daughter “ by Judith Krantz (I know, I know) and one of the protagonists is a woman named Fauve. I thought this was quite ridiculous, since it literally means “wild beast” in French, even though it’s also the name of the painting movement, but apparently there’s a Belgian celebrity by this name and it’s got an -albeit limited- history of use in Francophone areas.
Thoughts on Fauve? It’s pronounced “Fawv.”

Don’t like it, much prefer Fawn or Maeve.

It does make me think of the art movement, so in a way I kinda like it, but also I hate it. I love a good nonsense name but this one does nothing for me. I think perhaps I find the word itself unattractive. It does seem like a great name for a villainess, though.

It just looks like a mixture of the words fawn and mauve, to me. I don't like it, but I think it could maybe work on a character in a fantasy novel.

I agree that it would work for a fantasy novel character, but still… when it’s fantasy you could invent ANY name. Why go with Fauve then? There has to be a better name!
