Old-fashioned, but I think it's pretty in a classic way.

I love it. It might actually be my favorite gemstone name.

I love Opal. I "discovered" it as a teenager in a series of vampire romance books I loved, so Opal always had this lovely supernatural Gothic element to it for me. Also helps that apparently opals are bad luck for some people. Definitely one of my favourite gem names.

I always think of "Becauae of Winn Dixie". Cute association if you like a children's book connection. I like it a bit less than I have in times past but I still really like it.
