My name is Laura and I remember liking the spelling Lora when I was younger because it just seemed "cooler". Now I prefer Laura, but Lora is still a nice way to spell it. I think they both have different feels to them and it just depends on what you think would work best. Laura is more classical and simple and Lora is cool and artsy imo.

My name's Laura, too, and I used to spell it Lora for the reason you did! No thought is original I guess ;-)
