What do you think of the name Beau?

Beau is fine. But it bothers me how it's basically a word now meaning "boyfriend/lover" in English, as in "I'm meeting my beau tonight". Also in France it's not usable.
Beauden makes me think of bowel movements somehow and Beauregard sounds like the name of a hotel.

I'd never have thought of Robert as full name, I love that!

Alway saw it as a diminutive or nn, doesn't seem substatial enough for a full name.

I really like Beau! It's up there as one of my favourite boy names. It does sound a bit nicknamey but I'm not a huge fan of the longer versions. I kind of like Beauregard but it's one of those names I love from afar.

I like Beau, I think it's a timeless name. Though sometimes, I do feel like it's a nickname. For a girl, I would like it as a nickname for Isabeau or even Rainbow. The part of me that likes quirky word names would even suggest it as a nickname for Moonbow or Cloudbow (I got into finding out about different types of rainbows.).
Beaumont - Of the three names in the BtN database that starts with 'Beau', this is my favourite. I feel like it's sleek and classic. My only issue is that it can come across as 'surname-y' sometimes.
Beauden - It feels very current and trendy. I guess I have a curiosity about it because it's an New Zealand invention (being an Aussie myself). But I think I don't feel too strongly about it either way.
Beauregard - Very 'surname-y'. I do have a soft spot for clunky names with short nicknames though.

Beau is quite handsome, soft, and likable. One of the good French boy names. Beau on a girl is okay but Bo would be better!
Beauden I also like I must admit, Beauregard is fine but a fit too much for me. I'm pretty sure Joe Biden named his son after some Dixiecrat Beauregard guy.

Beau is a strange name to me. It's not bad, it has a nice meaning, but it just doesn't seem like a name to me. It feels like an affectionate term at best, not really something you'd call your child.
Beauden looks clunky, sounds fine but is way too modern for my taste, wouldn't use it.
Beauregard is weird, I can't hear it without thinking of Violet Beauregarde from Willy Wonka which kind of turns me away from it.
