[Opinions] The names this influencer wanted to name her child
Because I can’t post the screenshot from her tiktok, I’ll list them here. WDYT?(Note that she did not seem to differentiate which names are boy or girl names in her opinion, or if they are all unisex.)
Oaken
Vessel
Sparrrow
Nature
Valleigh
Talon
Earth
Stori
Reason
CrimsynBelay
Oak
Current
Windsor
Grey
Merrick
Alder
Oath
Theory
WrittenI dearly hope she’s trolling but who knows. Her name is Paige Danielle if you want to look it up.

Story isn't that bad as a word name to the point where it would be crazy, Stori looks weird though. Grey is sort of boring but pretty usable, reason feels pretty political and that it wouldn't be the best choice and current can have two meanings I guess, but it reminds me of current events and feels political. Alder is pretty nice though, I think that, Merrick, Grey and Story would be the most normal.

Well, Stori and Written actually seem like interesting choices for a child of a woman named Paige.

This is so clever it made me chuckle! Maybe her husband’s name is Author.

Oaken - Cool word, don't like it as a name, but like Oak for a boy
Vessel - Again, the word is cool but it would have TERRIBLE connotations as a name
Sparrow (assuming the extra r was a typo) - I like this, especially as a middle name. I'd say unisex but slightly prefer for a boy.
Nature - Would be a good name meaning but the word itself would make a terrible name
Valleigh - Took me a minute to realize this is the tragedeigh version of "valley". Valley could work as a middle name, I guess, but Meadow is more established as a name (even though the sound of Valley is more namey).
Talon - I like it for a boy.
Earth - Same comment as Nature. I guess there's Eartha but that feels dated.
Stori - What's wrong with Story? Story would be cute, especially as a middle name but it could work as a first name too, but Stori looks like an 80's girls name from an alternate timeline where Story was popular for boys.
Reason - This one feels more like a Puritan name. It would be interesting to see on someone, but I wouldn't use it or encourage anyone to use it.
Crimsyn - I like Crimson for girls, but the y is cringey.
Belay - I get it, you like climbing, but this is not a name!
Oak - I like it for boys
Current - Nope, not namey. I'd suggest River or even Creek instead
Windsor - Nope. It looks like you're trying to sound rich. It looks especially weird with all these nature and outdoorsy names.
Grey - I like this for a boy, mostly as a middle name but it would be fine as a first name too.
Merrick - I like this for a boy
Alder - I like this for a boy
Oath - Another one of those "cool word, weird name" situations. If I met someone who introduced themself as Oath I'd ask them to repeat it a few times while trying to figure out if they had a lisp.
Theory - I guess it sounds sort of namey, but it's a bit of a weird word to use as a name. if I ignore the meaning it sounds like it could be a girls name. Reminds me of words like Poem being used as names.

I wouldn’t mind Crimsyn if it got hit with the autocorrect. Grey (Greyson) has actually been on our baby names list. Alder & Sparrow are nice too…
I could even kinda like Reason but Vessel? Written? Belay? Valleigh? … no.

'Influencer?' God,I hope not. Merrick is the only maybe usable thing there, the rest should be aguments for passing a basic test before being allowed to breed.

Okay. Okay. Some of them are fine.Sparrow is fine…if it doesn’t have THREE Rs. Please tell me that was a typo (I can already guess it wasn’t…) Oaken is alright, and Stori would be decent if it was spelt properly. (If you’re going for random nouns, at least use the correct spelling!). Grey, Oak, Merrick, and Alder are okay. The rest…terrible.

What'd she do, open a dictionary at random, close her eyes and stick her finger down on a random word?
Obviously she is herself a Vessel; an empty vessel. Or is that Empteigh Vessel?
Belay means to pay out rope so, for instance, the mountain climber behind you can grab onto it.

Aaaaaaa!!! They are so cheesy! I love this list ;)I feel like Oak and Oaken aren't surprising. Oaklyn, Oaklynn and Oakley, Oakleigh, Oaklee are so trendy right now. I didn't like them at first, but I don't mind them anymore. Oaken's a smidge nerdier because of The Hobbit but whatever. Alder seems vaguely the same style: sounds a bit like a surname (Alden for example) plus a tree.Grey is also trendy (Grayson, Greyson "Grey").Sparrrow?! Vessel?! Written?! Belay?! lolStori, Valleigh, and Crimsyn...I hate them on some level, but at the same time, I am so fascinated by trendily misspelled word names that are charting lately (like Sevyn, Stormi, Birdie). They do sound namey to me, at least.I prefer Promise to Oath.I prefer Eartha and Terra and Neptune to Earth.Nature is surprisingly common as far as rare word names go. I think it was used something like 80-90 times in 2021. I don't like it, but I don't feel like it's terrible.Current reminds me of Cardi B naming her kids Kulture and Wave plus the footballer named Fashion. I think of an electric current. Again, I don't like it, but I've seen worse.Ngl, I've had a name crush on Theory lately. And similarly, I like Reason as a GP...that one's actually sweeter than Treasure in a way. I'd also like Knowledge.Talon - I think of ripped fabric or of someone who would wear a claw necklace. I don't like it, but I don't think it's worse than Tawny or Fallon or Tanner.I like Merrick. That one's so ordinary. It reminds me of Maverick, Derek, and Merry, though, for good or ill.I feel like somehow Windsor is the most embarrassing. I might rather be Royal, but it's a close one.

I have a few GP names on my list so maybe I can’t talk! 🤣🤣🤣 I forgot Cardi actually named her children that. Well they will never have to go by their last initial, that’s for sure.

Some of those are really bad.
The worst, IMO: (empty) Vessel, Nature, Reason, Windsor (suh), (old'n') Grey, Belay, Oath (dangit!), Theory, Written ... Ritten would not be so bad, but Written is lol goofy.Current is funny. Twin brother: Former. Not so bad:
I don't mind Valley or Vallie or Vale (for Valentina) as a name, but I hate that Valleigh spelling.
Story and Crimson and Sparrow and Oak all get done, although I don't like them.
I don't mind Talon - when it's a boy name. Dunno about for a girl.
Alder's not bad at all, and neither is Merrick.

Twin brother Former!!!! I almost died!
Surprisingly I think you’re right that Ritten could be passable.
I actually have a cousin named Talon. Hate it lol but would never tell them.
And I was surprised Alder wasn’t already in the database since it’s a real word. But yeahhhhhhh let’s keep the rest of these out of the database.

I could get on board with sparrow with the correct spelling. Grey is fine. The rest... oooof

Only one I can get behind is Grey. Rest are just asking to get bullied.

My only concern about Grey is that people may make jokes about “anatomy”…sigh
