It seems deliberately eccentric and characterish, and so depending on the story, it could be good or bad for a character.
But IRL I wouldn't hate it. It seems to me like a nickname for
Clovis (masculine). Reminds me of
Cleve, a little.
I think
Clover seems more simperingly pastoral, than it seems charmingly rustic.
I might be intrigued by Clova.
